  • Microsoft has announced plans to invest in the development of AI infrastructure in Spain.
  • The company’s president said the firm will invest $2.1 billion in the country over the next two years.


Microsoft will invest $2.1bn to develop artificial intelligence infrastructure in Spain. The announcement was made by the firm’s president Brad Smith in an X (formerly Twitter).

“I am pleased to announce that we will expand our artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in Spain by $2.1 billion over the next two years,” Smith wrote.

According to Smith, this is not just about building data centers, but also a commitment to promote security and digital transformation for the country’s government, businesses and people.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez thanked the Microsoft president for his confidence in the Spanish economy. He also added:

“We discussed opportunities for collaboration to strengthen cybersecurity and advance artificial intelligence in public administration. Public-private cooperation is essential to successfully overcome the challenges of digital transformation.”

Earlier we reported that telecom service provider Vodafone announced a ten-year strategic partnership with Microsoft.
