Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said that active user engagement makes the project much easier to implement. According to him, the launch of the first device had a stricter financial framework. However, the $45 million raised makes the economics of selling the second device an order of magnitude “more viable,” Yakovenko said.

The entrepreneur also said that, like the first smartphone, Saga Chapter 2 will have special features relevant to the digital asset industry. Special emphasis will be placed on the device’s interconnectivity with the Solana blockchain, Yakovenko emphasized.

“It’s very hard to beat Apple and Google in terms of camera and other technical features that their leading smartphones boast. That’s why we really care about cryptocurrency-specific features. We’re trying to create something that you can’t get on any other device,” said the Solana co-founder.

Yakovenko believes that the potential number of users of the new smartphone is close to the critical mass needed to attract app developers in the blockchain ecosystem. He said Solana’s online store does not charge the 20% to 30% commission that Google and Apple corporations have set for software sellers.

The company said that after reaching the 100,000 pre-orders mark, they are ready to proceed to the next step in the project. The opportunity to pre-order will be closed on February 14, 2024.

Recall, we wrote that the test of the smartphone Saga in a microwave oven caused a surge in sales of NFT.
