On February 15, 2024, the Aptos Foundation team entered into a partnership agreement with technology firm Jambo. It aims to expand access to Web3 in emerging markets.

The collaboration resulted in the release of the JamboPhone smartphone. According to the team, it aims to open up access to the digital economy for users in Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
As explained by the Aptos Foundation, the JamboPhone is positioned as a budget smartphone model. It is available for order in more than 40 countries at a price of $99.
It is known that the device will come with a Petra Wallet cryptocurrency wallet and the JamboApp app that provides direct access to the Aptos ecosystem.
“This is more than just a smartphone. It’s a bridge to the Aptos ecosystem, easily integrated through pre-installed apps. It provides access to decentralized finance, games and toolkits, encouraging user participation and empowerment in the Web3 space,” said the project representatives.
Note that this is not the first smartphone on the market that supports working with blockchain. In the spring of 2023, the Solana Mobile division released the Saga device. The smartphone went on sale at a price of $1000, but a few months later it was reduced to $599.
In January 2024, Solana Mobile announced the release of Saga Chapter 2. In less than 30 days, the company received over 100,000 pre-orders. Also working on the release of the JONE smartphone is decentralized exchange Trader Joe’s.
