DAILY LIQUIDATIONS IN THE CRYPTO MARKET APPROACHED $200 MILLION

  • During the period from February 12 to 13, bitcoin traded in the range between $48,000 and $50,300.
  • Amid increased volatility, the volume of liquidations on the crypto market approached $200 million in 24 hours.
  • Most of the liquidations were for short positions.


Between February 12 and February 13, 2024, the volume of liquidations in the cryptocurrency futures market totaled $196.5 million. During this period, bitcoin traded in the range of $48,000 to $50,300.

According to  CoinGlass, 61,508 traders’ positions were liquidated in the last 24 hours. Approximately $93.5 million of the losses came from long positions, while almost $103 million came from shorts.

Most liquidations occurred on bitcoin and Ethereum trading pairs – $59.31 million and $49.83 million, respectively.

The largest liquidation of $4.69 million was recorded on the crypto exchange Binance in the ETH/USDT trading pair. The platform was also the leader in terms of the volume of closed positions of traders for the day – more than $94 million.

Note, fluctuations in the rate of the first cryptocurrency during the day occurred against the background of data on inflation in the United States. At the time of writing, the asset is trading near the $48,750 mark, according to TradingView.

Recall, in early January, the daily volume of liquidations exceeded $500 million amid a sharp collapse of bitcoin.
