The founder of Telegram Pavel Durov told how to keep the coin TON stable and decentralized.
Recall, on February 28, 2024, he said that the owners of Telegram channels will receive remuneration in TON for displaying advertising. Already a day later, Durov published a post in which he wrote:
“Some people have expressed concern that as a result of selling ads exclusively to TON, Telegram may end up owning an unhealthy share of Toncoin, which would be too concentrated for a decentralized ecosystem. We recognize these concerns and have found a solution.”
According to Durov, to limit Telegram’s stake in TON to around 10% of the offering, the messenger will sell excess TON to long-term investors at a reduced price. However, the assets will be locked up for 1 to 4 years. He added that this will “stabilize the ecosystem and reduce volatility.”
Durov also published an email address where investors with more than $1 million in capital can submit their offers.
“Thanks to the participation of more long-term owners, TON will remain stable and decentralized,” the Telegram founder concluded.
