Immunefi has generated a report on the losses of the cryptocurrency industry as a result of hacker attacks. Since the beginning of 2024, attackers have stolen more than $200 million, writes Cointelegraph with reference to analysts.

Experts note that the volume of stolen funds increased by 15.4% compared to the same period last year. Analysts recorded 32 different incidents of hacker attacks.

Most often, projects operating on the Ethereum network suffered from hacking and fraud. In total, 85% of the stolen funds come from this ecosystem.

Immunefi estimates that hackers stole more than $67 million worth of assets in February 2024. This happened in 12 incidents. Compared to last month, the amount of stolen funds decreased by almost 50% when companies and users lost $133 million.

Analysts point to a growing trend of DeFi sector hacking. According to them, hackers are increasingly targeting decentralized exchanges, protocols and organizations.

Immunefi representatives also recalled that in 2023, as a result of hacking and fraud, attackers stole more than $1.8 billion. The largest attack during this period they call the incident with the trading platform Mixin Network, which brought losses of more than $200 million.

Recall, we wrote that in 2023 it was possible to recover $675 million of the funds stolen by hackers.
