- C-Chain has not produced blocks for more than two hours.
- Developers believe the failure is caused by a new wave of “inscriptions”.
February 23, 2024 Avalanche’s C-Chain has experienced a glitch, according to the blockchain’s status page. For more than two hours, the network failed to produce new blocks.
Kevin Seknicki, co-founder of Ava Labs studio, a blockchain developer, commented on the situation. According to him, the possible cause of the failure is a new wave of “inscriptions”.
Investigating Avalanche primary network block production issue right now. Seems to be related to a new inscription wave launched about an hour ago.

“Obviously this is a private incident that needs to be fixed quickly,” he added.
Sekniqi believes the problem could be in the transaction processing mechanism with “superscripts” in the mempool.
At the time of writing, C-Chain is still not creating new blocks. There have been no new announcements from the project team.
In late November 2023, network activity in Avalanche spiked. The number of transactions jumped from an average of 450,000 to 2.3 million.
This happened against the backdrop of the implementation of the ASC-20 standard, an analog of BRC-20. Read more about the latter:
The situation repeated itself in December 2023, which caused an increase in intra-network fees.
The Avalanche token (AVAX) reacted to the news with a slight drop of 1.3% in 24 hours, from February 22 to February 23, 2024, according to TradingView.
