- The former Binance CEO could have his passports and travel documents confiscated.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has asked a federal judge to impose additional travel restrictions on former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance Changpeng Zhao.
In a motion filed on February 23, 2024 in U.S. Court, prosecutors asked Judge Brian Tsuchida to approve a motion clarifying Zhao’s bail conditions.
Prosecutors said CZ must remain in the U.S. pending sentencing and report any travel within the country at least three days in advance.
They also said the defendant must surrender his valid Canadian passport to a third party, who must retain control of the document and accompany Zhao on any trips where identification documents are required.
In addition, prosecutors require the former Binance CEO to “surrender all other valid and expired passports, as well as travel documents to his lawyer.”
Recall, we previously reported that Changpeng Zhao tried to leave for the United Arab Emirates at the end of 2023 under the pledge of shares of Binance.US.
